Gillian Boucher

"In the hands of Gillian Boucher, the violin becomes a vehicle of transportation for the mind... Her lyrical approach and sensitivity transcends genres and cultures, transporting listeners to far off exotic places accessible only in imagination." Glenn Meisner, CBC Radio

'Elemental' seamlessly blends Celtic & contemporary sounds with hints of Eastern European styles and jazz. It truly is world music and no wonder: Gillian started touring the world at just 15 - first as a featured performer at Green Linnet's 20th Anniversary Gala in New York, and then throughout North America, Scotland, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia.

She has shared the stage with the likes of Emmylou Harris, Solas, Natalie MacMaster, Cappercaillie, The Battlefield Band, Tom Paxton and many other performers.

While living in Edinburgh, Gillian founded the all-girl band Maysha and was a featured performer on Scotland's Television Programme 'Tacsi'. Gillan's music can also be found on Foot Stompin' Records album 'Heat the Hoose Volume 2' and on Irish Fiddle virtuoso Manus McGuire's debut solo album 'Saphire and Blue.'

Gillian now resides in Nova Scotia, Canada.

"Gillian Boucher is a smooth, crisp fiddler who oozes expression with an up-beat fiddle style..." Rambles Art Magazine, Scotland

"...she enthrals, not only with the serene beauty of her music but with her stage persona and skills." The Daily News, New Zealand
