A native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Matthew is currently based in Chicago where he is becoming known as one of the Windy City’s most promising musical talents.
“Matters of the Bittersweet," is a live solo recording with the addition of four songs where he is joined by band members Robert Tucker on 'Humming'burd' and Aviva Jaye on vocals and clarinet on three songs; 'Unnamable', 'Daughter of the Sun', and 'Drop a Coin'.
Matthew has performed at SXSW, Coachella Music Festival, Lollapalooza, Summerfest, MTV, and Chicago’s Around the Coyote Arts Festival and is also featured on Lupe Fiasco’s upcoming second full-length album, "The Cool".
On Quickly Disappearing, Santos plumbs social consciousness and takes inspiration from the precarious predicament resulting from the melting polar ice caps and the crisis that is global warming.
The emotions on This Burning Ship of Fools range from hope to wrath to loneliness as Santos plumbs subjects including community ("The Good Life"), the music industry ("Wide Eyed Firefly"), and romantic desirability ("Drop a Coin"). -Kevin McKeough, Chicago Magazine
