GRAMMY® nominated singer/songwriter, Matthew Santos, who rose to prominence as the pure melodic voice on Lupe Fiasco’s runaway hit, “Superstar” is kicking off 2012 with a new solo album and a US tour. The new album, entitled Quickly Disappearing, will be released on CandyRat Records. This is Santos’ second album for the label. On Quickly Disappearing, Santos plumbs social consciousness and takes inspiration from the precarious predicament resulting from the melting polar ice caps and the crisis that is global warming. He brings this global issue into a sentimental and personal arena drawing parallels in his own life as an artist trying not to lose himself while also recognizing the enormity and urgency of this looming environmental disaster. “Musically speaking, the album is a collection of introspective songs ranging from intimate, stripped down, acoustic movements, to full band rock 'n roll tunes,” explains Santos.
Matthew Santos has established himself as one of the rare and striking talents quickly emerging from the Chicago music scene. With an ethereal voice that has been the praise of artists such as Eddie Vedder, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, and Rihanna, Santos has secured his place in current music with his distinguished style and elusive musical gift. Santos is quietly rising into one of the most remarkable voices of his generation.
